Call the police??

Read it here if you want, but I'll post it as well:
ARLINGTON, Va. -- Parents in Arlington are being warned about a man spotted near playgrounds and parks taking photos of children.

"We understand why these incidents may be unsettling and, at the very least, suspicious to parents, but they do not appear to have risen to the level of criminality," said John Lisle, Arlington County police spokesman.

The man has been spotted at Nottingham playground and Arlington Forrest.

Arlington police have been alerted, and a detective has been assigned to the case. Police said they have received several different descriptions of the man.

"We're really trying to figure out exactly what's going on," Lisle said.

Authorities said the man has been described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall with acne and red patches on his face.

Police said if parents notice a man fitting that description taking photos of children without their knowledge, they should not confront him. Instead, they are urged to call police.

I wonder if the photographer who took these pictures would be under suspicion these days.

...and the light gets brighter!

Spent the weekend busting ass and getting work done.

Half of the studio now has a laminate (fake) hardwood floor and trim. It has been swept and cleaned and is ready for regular use. It isn't 100% finished, but I have just one more weekend of work to get there.

Here's what's left:
  • Paint window and floor molding
  • Hang window treatments
  • Install PVC utility grid
That's all for the studio!

For the bathroom/make-up room all that is left is:
  • Paint cabinet bases
  • Put down floor (contractor will do that next week)
  • Install toilet and hook up plumbing (contractor will that after the floor guy)
  • Paint cabinet bases
  • Decorative finish on walls
  • Hang mirrors
  • Put misc. bathroom hardware
It seems like a long list, but this is small stuff that can be completed pretty quickly and easily. Look for the open house in mid to late August!

The never-ending studio project

This is getting really frustrating!

Weekends have been filled with working in the basement or going out of town - or, worse, waiting for my contractor/father-in-law to make the time to travel to our house to finish the construction projects that need to be finished.

I think, however, that there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. My afore-mentioned father-in-law will be in town this weekend to put the final touches on the "real" construction pieces - leaving the minor construction pieces to my wife and me.

So, here's what remains:
Big Stuff With Father-In-Law
  • Install heating/air vents in my space, wife's space, bar, and bathroom
  • Build bathroom closet
  • Hang bathroom door
  • Shim remaining doors
  • Install counter and cut out space for sink in wife's studio
  • Install clay-catch under wife's sink

Big Stuff We're Hiring Out
  • Lay floor in bathroom
  • Hook up sink & toilet in bathroom
  • Hook up sink in wife's studio

Stuff We'll Do
  • Paint trim in my studio
  • Install laminate floor in my studio
  • Install curtains in my studio
  • Build and install ceiling utility grid in my studio
  • Prime and paint 2 walls in the bar
  • Paint bathroom counter bases
  • Decorative finish on bathroom walls
  • Install bathroom mirrors
  • Paint bathroom door
  • Install bathroom hardware (shower rod, toilet paper roll, clothing hooks, etc.
  • Clean underdeck
  • Clean
  • Clean
  • Clean

That seems like a LOT of work, doesn't it? I thing we can still meet our July 30 finish deadline, but we'll be REALLY busy until then!

After its all done, we'll have an open-studio party. Bring booze!
